Our Story

 

Our aim is to provide quality kits at affordable prices.

Much credit goes to Rob Burge for starting the business. Rob designed many of the kits we stock and passed on his wealth of knowledge so the business could continue.

When Rob was unable to run Rail Model, Andy Pearce took the driver’s seat, wanting to carry on Rob's superb designs. Rob’s attention to detail and design techniques continue to influence our new models.

Andy quickly learned that model railways are an art form, a labour of love and each layout has its own unique story.

He’s also learnt that the capability of a laser cutter is truly staggering, the precision the quality the range of materials that can be cut and engraved is outstanding.

Rail Model’s aim is to provide the kits and accessories and champion and support makers old and new. The satisfying feeling and skills required in building a layout or diorama that provides hours of enjoyment is something that shouldn't be lost.

We’ve plans to build on the experience and knowledge we’ve acquired so far with more ranges and building types in development. We’re also open to other modelling challenges, see our ‘Who we work with’ page for potential collaborations.
